Old school basketball taught the way the game is meant to be played. Taught by the Dean of Nova basketball, Coach Diggs.
You will leave with not only shooting skills but with the knowledge of how basketball is actually played.
The knowledge that high school coaches look for and need but don’t have time to teach. The knowledge that stands out in games
Holly Wiles
Willie coached all three of my children, and without hesitation I can say he has been the best coach, trainer, and lifelong mentor any of them have ever had.
Willie is so much more than a basketball coach. He takes the time to truly get to know each child as a person, not just as an athlete. He teaches life lessons alongside athletic skills, and that is what sets him apart. He doesn’t simply tell kids what they want to hear – he teaches them what they need to hear. He knows how to deliver constructive criticism in a way that builds character, and he always follows it with encouragement and praise that helps them grow in confidence.
Watching my children develop under Willie’s leadership was remarkable. He coached them in basketball, but his investment in their lives went far beyond the court. He flew to Mississippi to watch my son play in a college football game, and he showed up to my daughters’ soccer and lacrosse games in addition to their basketball games. His support was never conditional on the sport – it was about the kids themselves.
I will never forget the first conversation I had with Willie. He told me, “Holly, my goal is to have your kid want to call me when they get their first job, when they are getting married, and at the important moments in their life.” That statement perfectly captures who he is. He is not just building athletes; he is building relationships and helping shape responsible, confident, and resilient young adults.
Willie Diggs is a rare and special coach. Any family or organization that has the opportunity to work with him will be incredibly fortunate.

As an active-duty service member, finding high-quality developmental programs for my son has always been a top priority. When we moved to the area in 2023, he began training with the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy (WDBA), and the experience was immediately rewarding.
After a brief hiatus to play other sports and explore different basketball programs, the difference in quality became undeniable. While other programs were well-intentioned, they lacked the rigorous focus on fundamental development necessary to truly master the game. Realizing this gap, I reached out to Coach Diggs. He welcomed my son back with open arms, and we haven’t looked back since.
The training at WDBA is truly best-in-class, but what truly sets Willie apart is how he prepares young people for life. He holds his student-athletes accountable and serves as a vital voice of reason, encouraging them to live with purpose and integrity on and off the court. I am incredibly grateful for the impact Willie has had on my son’s growth and confidence. The bonus…it’s a true family atmosphere where parents enjoy each other’s company—at WDBA, it really is “all love”.

I have had two sons train with Willie.
When my sons first started training with Willie, they were just kids who loved basketball. Years later, one earned the opportunity to play at Villanova University on the 2018 National Championship Team and the other played Varsity through High School and into a D1 program—and none of that would have been possible without this incredible coach.
Willie believed in them. He taught them how to work hard, stay humble, handle setbacks, and never stop improving. He treated our sons like family and held them to high standards, always pushing them to reach their potential.
We are beyond thankful for everything he’s done. This isn’t just a trainer—this is a mentor who changes lives.

When I hear the name Willie Diggs or wdba the only word that comes to mind is family. Willie has personally helped three of my kids for over the15 years of being apart of his academy. What truly sets him apart from other trainers and coaches in the area is the level of care he has for each and every one of his players. Combine that with his vast knowledge of basketball and connections through the dmv, you are getting top notch expertise and pathway few can rival. If you come to one of his games everybody in the gym knows him. If your son or daughter is truly trying to become a better basketball player and human being I highly encourage you to check it out. He’s made a huge difference in all of lives and can’t thank him enough.

WDBA 4 LIFE
I can’t thank Coach Willie enough for the incredible impact he has had on my daughter’s basketball abilities. Starting from the age of 10, Coach Willie has been training her, perfecting her basketball IQ, refining her shooting skills, and instilling a strong sense of discipline for the game. His expert guidance and unwavering support helped her grow not only as a player but also as a confident young athlete.
Thanks to his teachings, she has become well known as a sharp shooter and has earned college scholarships because of her exceptional basketball abilities. Coach Willie’s mentorship truly made a difference, and we are forever grateful for his dedication and professionalism. I highly recommend the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy to anyone looking to develop their child’s talent and passion for basketball.

1. Technicals. The training is unmatched. Your child will impress every coach out there (middle school, travel, HS, college) with their ability to shoot, dribble, pass, and defend. The training is specifically designed to give your child the best possible opportunity to make their HS team…as Willie says, we’ll get your skills there (HS) but it’s up to you to take it and make it.
2. WDBA Mentality. The environment is extremely unique. Coaches are loud and direct and intense. Accountability rules. Practice is active and aggressive – this is intentional and necessary as this approach is designed to acclimate your child to the very real pressure they’ll experience playing top teams in extremely hostile environments. There are no apologies for this – this approach installs a core toughness/fearlessness combined with the calm/focus necessary to execute when the world around them is going haywire. Your child will be hard. Ready to compete. This is the WDBA MENTALITY
3. Maker of Men. This last point is maybe the most important one – Willie and his team have helped me raise a man. A courageous operator who knows right and wrong. Who doesn’t accept no-win scenarios. A teammate. A leader. A friend. Loyal. And when necessary, fierce and focused – a fighter. To accentuate this last point, Uncle Willie (as we know him) walked with my son and my family when he was honored on senior night for football! Proving WDBA is not just about hoops! That’s how highly we rate Willie and his lasting impact on my son and our family…
4. Results. My boy starts for his HS hoops team. Going to play football in college.

WDBA Academy played a huge role in my growth, not just as a basketball player but as a person. Through the training and guidance, I learned the importance of leadership, controlling pace, and truly thinking the game instead of just playing it. The academy helped me understand basketball on a deeper level—how to read situations, make smarter decisions, and lead by example on and off the court. Those lessons have stayed with me and continue to shape the way I approach the game and life today.
Coach Willie, in particular, meant more to me than just a coach. He was like an uncle I never had—someone who genuinely cared about my development, held me accountable, and pushed me to be better while always believing in me. His mentorship went beyond basketball, teaching me discipline, confidence, and how to carry myself as a leader. I’m forever grateful for the impact WDBA and Coach Willie had on my journey, and I wouldn’t be the player or person I am today without them.

My son was struggling with his shot, and I watched him start to lose his confidence to the point of crying after games. I tried working with him on his form but couldn’t identify the problem. I finally called Willie, aka the Shot Doctor, and asked him for help. Willie filmed my son’s shot form, and quickly identified the root cause. He then worked tirelessly with him underneath the basket for hours to create that space in between the ball and the forehead – and to break the habit and pulling it back. Willie’s enthusiasm and energy helped my son break thru the frustration, and he had a huge smile when the shots started falling. After several one-on-one sessions, my son has now become the offensive outside threat he wanted to be. He learned important form shooting practice that he begins each workout with. Willie gave him a new sense of confidence on the court and he knows exactly what he did wrong if he misses. Thank you, Willie!
Benjamin Campbell
Coach challenges his players to play aggressive and fundamental basketball. He keeps his players in check with constant feedback and direction. My son gained invaluable experience in the 9th grade program and was selected for the HS JV team after the program concluded. Thanks to Coach for his focus and dedication to player excellence.
Daryl Savage
I strongly endorse Willie Diggs BA. My son Cameron Savage worked with Willie from age 9-14. Cameron thrived under Willie’s training becoming a 4 year starter at a South Lakes HS and earning a basketball scholarship at Barton College in Wilson NC. Cameron was a 4 year starter in college where he earned his BA.
Willie is demanding and not all kids are oriented to Willie’s tough love approach. But if a player is willing to work hard and learn, I can think of no one that is better at developing a young player for success in basketball and in life.
Natalie G.
This is not your average rec league or run-of-the-mill training academy. It’s for young athletes who aspire to play at a high level and want to learn the right way.
I’ve known Willie (affectionately “Uncle” Willie) for decades. He trained in PG County for many years when my own youth teams were coming up and has now trained my own son. If you know DMV basketball, you already understand the level of competition, toughness, and skill that environment produces.
Willie brings PG County-level standards of discipline, accountability, and hard-nosed basketball to Loudoun, but he also emphasizes character, resilience, and growth. His coaching is edgy, demanding, and at times, brutally honest, yet always rooted in care and a commitment to helping young athletes grow both on and off the court!
He teaches players how to “think” the game, compete the right way, and handle adversity. If you truly want your young athlete to develop and learn the game the right way, and you can handle a tough, hard-nosed approach, this is the only place in Loudoun you’ll find it!
Idan Chami, student at WDBA basketball academy
After training with coach Willie for about 3 years, I have not only gotten better at basketball tremendously but I have also learned about Life, Hard Work, and Commitment.
In terms of basketball, I came in 3 years ago as a tall guy who couldn’t shoot, or excel in the post. Over the years, coach has shaped me into a tall, athletic shooting guard. He has done this through elite drills, advice, and demonstration along with incredible coaching in game and at practice. In the past year, I have gotten better at shooting on and off the dribble from deep and from mid-range. I have gotten better at driving to the rim and seeing all options on the court. I have gotten better at dribbling and playing aggressive yet smart defense. And I have also gotten better at being a leader and talking, which not only benefits me and my team on the court, but also off the court in terms of a job later on in life, or a leadership role at a conference for work. He has also helped me improve my overall game and basketball iQ. Along with many other skills a successful basketball player needs to have. He also accepts no excuses or nonsense, this makes him great because it allows the player to learn to not take the easy way out and to push through when times get tough. This build character and confidence something that is essential in order to be a successful player, person, and student. Personally, I love this about coach because I know he wants the best and that he is pushing for my team and I to get better.
Overall, Coach is so awesome at bringing out the best in you/your player and he has produced many great people through his academy
Coach is not only a basketball coach, but he is also a life coach

I played basketball at Villanova University and it is difficult to put into words the impact Willie had on my development as a basketball player as well as a young man. Willie’s knowledge and understanding of the game is unmatched. He is creative and customizes workouts for players based off their specific situations and what they need to focus on. Willie was instrumental in helping me develop my game during my high school years and that continued at the collegiate level. He pushed me physically and mentally, while also instilling confidence in myself as a basketball player. I think all players, regardless of age or level, can materially benefit from training with Willie.

Working with Wdiggs as my kids mental coach has been a game changer. He prepares his students to maximize their fullest potential by strengthening their mental toughness and focus. His coaching goes beyond golfing technique. He teaches golfers how to perform under pressure and stay composed in any given circumstance. Thanks to his guidance, my kids gain confidence, clarity, and the ability to trust their game when it matters most, and both received Div 1 scholarships. Highly recommended for any golfer serious about improving their performance.
Jerey Hardin
My son has been part of the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy travel team for nearly three years, and the impact on his development has been profound. Coach Diggs is exactly the kind of coach you want if your child is serious about the game. He brings an incredible level of intensity to every practice and training session, constantly pushing the kids to exceed their own expectations. His coaching style is demanding and rigorous, but it’s rooted in a genuine passion for seeing these young athletes succeed. Beyond the X’s and O’s, what truly sets Coach Diggs apart is his focus on ‘life training.’ He uses the court as a classroom to teach lessons that extend far beyond basketball. He helps the kids understand that the discipline, accountability, and resilience they practice in the gym are the same traits they’ll need to succeed in school and in their future careers. Whether it’s the value of showing up for your teammates or the mental toughness required to push through a challenge, Coach Diggs ensures these boys see the bigger picture. Seeing my son rise to meet that level of intensity over the last few years has been rewarding, both as a parent and a fan of the game. If you are looking for a program that develops both the player and the person, I cannot recommend Coach Diggs and WDBA highly enough.
Jon Armstrong
I can’t recommend WDBA enough. Both my boys have benefited greatly by Coach Digg’s development first focus. With one playing in HIgh School today and one about to, I can say hands down they are fundamentally more prepared than their peers and it shows on the court. Willie also teaches and reinforces self-discipline, attention to detail, and self-accountability which are skills that transcend the basketball court and are not common in young student athletes and programs today. He has my highest endorsement.
Steve Xeller
Willie Diggs is the best youth coach we have ever known. He has coached both of our sons and one of our daughters and his effect on our children has been exceptional. His passion for fundamentals is second to none but the most incredible quality is the amount of care he shows to EVERY kid in his program. He tells the kids the truth and cares enough to give them real lessons on how to improve their skills and how to improve their play. He shows them the value of teamwork and that being great takes hard work over a consistent period of time.
Willie is still a great friend to our family and I truly appreciate the time and effort he has given to our children. I haven’t found a better influence on my kids and we have had dozens of coaches in our time in Northern VA.
Neil Lamont
I brought my son to Coach Willie as a 4th grader who was able to play up on the Academy’s youngest team. He’s now a 7th grader and plays point guard for one of the Academy’s best teams. As you’d expect, the journey to pursue high-level basketball hasn’t always been easy. I wasn’t fully prepared for the level of commitment and time it takes to support my son’s dream.
I also wasn’t fully prepared for—but have grown to truly appreciate—the “old school” style of coaching Coach Willie brings to WDBA. The level of accountability he holds his players to makes all the difference in how they develop. He says it all the time, and I’m now a firm believer: the program “is not about basketball.” I’ll admit, that took a while to fully sink in, even though I understood what he meant. Coach believes there’s a life lesson hidden in every drill, play, practice, and game. For example, a player not remembering where to go in a play isn’t just a personal mistake—it lets down the other four players on the floor and the team as a whole.
At the end of the day, accountability is the foundation at WDBA. Coach Willie’s tough, old-school approach is the vehicle that drives it—day after day—until it becomes a habit. My son has grown as a player, but more importantly as a teammate and a young man, because he’s learned what it means to be responsible, prepared, and committed. That’s why this program truly isn’t just about basketball, it’s about life.
Chuck Roney
Willie is one of a kind. My youngest son learned basketball skills and smarts, how to earn success, and the importance of being a good student and a good person. He played for his high school basketball team all four years. It was amazing to see the comparison between him and some of the players from the other leagues. None of them had mastered even simple tasks like off-hand layups. Many lacked the fundamentals to play solid defense. Simply put, there is no better basketball or life coach than Willie. The WDA greatly benefits from assistant coaches Jerome and Julian. After a few years with Willie, your son or daughter will have learned the importance of attention to detail, how to analyze situations and determine winning strategies, and necessity of putting in the work to achieve their goals. All of these skill sets will help them throughout their lives.
The Davies Family, Great Falls, VA
We’ve had an incredible experience with the Willie Diggs Academy (trained with Willie Diggs for 10 years). My younger son currently trains with Coach Diggs, and the growth we’ve seen has been remarkable, not just in his skill level, but also in his technique and overall maturity on and off the field. Coach Diggs has a way of developing athletes holistically, helping them understand the game while building confidence and discipline.
Coach Diggs also trained my older son, and the results spoke for themselves. After working with him, my son earned a starting position on his high school team, which was a direct reflection of the fundamentals, preparation, and mindset instilled during his training.
Willie Diggs is more than a trainer, he’s a mentor who genuinely invests in his athletes’ development. We’re grateful for the impact he’s had on both of our sons and highly recommend the Willie Diggs Academy to any family looking for serious growth and positive leadership. He’s like family and we’re fortunate he has been in our children’s lives.
Jennifer Low
Coach Diggs is one of the most passionate coaches we have ever seen. Within the first 20 minutes that our son was at the first practice with Coach Diggs, we could see his skills developing already. Suddenly our son’s layup was so much stronger and aggressive!
There is an intensity with this Academy that brings out the best in each player – not only as basketball players but also as humans. Coach uses basketball as a means to help the kids understand how to be good team players, take responsibility and be respectful.
We believe our son’s participation in the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy will be the key to helping him achieve his basketball goals, but is also helping him become a better person along the way.
Adarsh Jain
As a parent, watching my son’s transformation over the last two years under Coach Willie has been incredible. He started as a shy 6th grader and has blossomed into an outgoing, confident young man who genuinely loves the game.
What sets Coach Willie apart is his no-nonsense approach. In an era where kids are often coddled, Coach stresses teamwork and accountability. My son doesn’t mind the ‘tough love’ or the high expectations—in fact, he thrives on it. He looks forward to every single practice, even on days he isn’t scheduled to play.
If you want a coach who builds both skill and character, look no further.
Roosevelt “RJ” Jones Command Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) USAF, NASA Executive & proud father of a WDBA Alum!
Coach Diggs and WDBA have been equally invaluable and dedicated in helping me guide my son Amir Jones, Harvard-Westlake c/o 26 on his basketball journey. Providing the fundamentals of basketball and the details required for advanced/elite players; Coach Diggs developed Amir to a highly sought-after HS basketball player and student.
His influence with Amir has registered in not only basketball but in character, and confidence. Coach has been able to advise me through the questions of AAU, HS Basketball, and College recruiting. Every bit of guidance, training and hoops have been sound, practical and led to Amir’s commitment to Georgia State to play D1 Basketball next year!

Working with Willie Diggs and his team has been a game changer!!!
The dedication and detail they have to making my kid better is unmatched!!! They lead with passion, focus, and energy towards my kid’s dream of playing high level basketball! We appreciate the entire team for their commitment and help along this journey!
Justin Elkin, Emmanuel College
Coach Diggs is more than just a coach to me. Uncle Willie saw a young man with a bright future but no clear path. When I was 14, I was about six feet tall but could barely run or jump, let alone play basketball. I was also struggling outside of sports with school and home life.
Through his guidance, patience, and belief in me, Coach Diggs helped shape me into the person I am today. With his support, I grew not only as an athlete, but as a student and as a man. Because of him, I was able to play college basketball, earn my degree, and I am now working toward my master’s degree.
Coach Diggs has had a lasting impact on my life, and I’m grateful for everything he’s taught me both on and off the court.
Sara Overman
My son’s basketball skills improved tremendously in just his first year with the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy. His ball-handling, shooting accuracy, and overall love for the game have skyrocketed. Just as importantly, I’ve seen incredible growth off the court—his confidence, respect for teammates and coaches, and commitment to improving each week have all flourished. The middle school years bring so many changes, and I’m truly grateful my son has the Academy and Willie’s leadership guiding him as he learns to navigate both personal growth and success on & off the court.
Matt Kemmerer
All three of my boys play for Willie over the years; and, while they all benefited from the basketball training and had successes on the court, they also lessened the importance of hard work and how to handle adversity in challenging situations. Their experience with Willie’s academy has helped them beyond just what they learned about the game.
Rico Limcaoco
Training at Willie Diggs Basketball Academy (WDBA) has been one of the most meaningful experiences
of my basketball and personal development. I began training with WDBA at just 12 years old, and over
the years, the academy has played a huge role in shaping not only the player I’ve become, but the person I
am today.
From an early age, WDBA taught me the importance of fundamentals, discipline, and work ethic. Every
workout was intentional and demanding, pushing me to improve my skills, basketball IQ, and confidence.
Coach Willie never just focused on talent, he emphasized consistency, accountability, and attention to
detail. As I grew older, the training evolved with me, continuously challenging me to raise my standards
and compete at higher levels.
Beyond basketball, WDBA has helped me develop life skills that I carry with me every day. I learned how
to stay disciplined, manage my time, handle adversity, and remain mentally tough through challenges.
The lessons of showing up prepared, taking coaching, and pushing through discomfort translated directly
into school, relationships, and life off the court.
What truly sets WDBA apart is its culture. It’s an environment built on respect, hard work, and self-belief.
Being surrounded by motivated athletes taught me how to compete the right way and how to lead by
example. The academy instilled confidence in me not just as a basketball player, but as a young man
prepared for life’s challenges.
I am grateful for the mentorship, guidance, and opportunities WDBA has provided since I was 11 years
old. Willie Diggs Basketball Academy has been a foundation for my growth on and off the court, and I
highly recommend it to any athlete who is serious about developing their game and their character.
Elliott Black, Merrimack College '25
Coach Willie is more than just a trainer. He is a mentor, a friend, and someone I can still consult with long after I left his Academy.
He will invest in your child’s development as a basketball player, but it’s so much bigger than that. He will invest in your child as a person. He still checks in with me to this day. His basketball lessons translate into life lessons. That’s why I still return to visit with him and his next generation of players.
Jack Robertson, Hood College
I began working with the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy during the summer of 2020. During this time covid was very prominent and it was very hard to get in the gym.
Willie and his staff took me in and as I began working out with them, my game reached new heights as I started on my varsity basketball team as a sophomore. I stayed with The Academy until my junior year of high school. I was taught endless amounts of information and my skill set would not have developed the same way without it.
Scott Westfall
Our experience with the WDBA Academy was nothing short of incredible. My son was part of the academy from 6th grade through 12th grade, and the impact it had on both his basketball career and his personal growth is immeasurable. While the skill development and basketball IQ he gained were outstanding, what truly set WDBA apart was its focus on building character.
The academy emphasized respect, discipline, hard work, and getting the very best out of each player — lessons that extended far beyond the court. As a parent, it was reassuring to know that my son was being coached not just to be a better athlete, but to be a better young man. WDBA played an instrumental role in shaping the man my son is today, and I will always be grateful for the guidance, mentorship, and values instilled in him throughout those years.
Amanda Mason, Dominic Mason’s mother
Our son barely made his freshman basketball team and was far behind his peers in both skill and basketball IQ. When many programs weren’t willing to give him a real chance, we put him with Willie—and we saw improvement almost immediately.
Willie provided high-level instruction, real game opportunities, constant encouragement, and tough love when it mattered most. The growth was transformative.
Today, our son is choosing between six college offers. Willie truly cares about the kids he works with and is deeply invested in their development, both as players and as people. We can’t recommend him highly enough.
Alan Alexander, Parent of Avery & Brady Alexander
For the past 2½ years, my twin boys have been part of WBDA (Willie Diggs Basketball Academy), and their growth has been nothing short of remarkable. His program brings together players from elementary school through high school, training side by side, and the results show.
Coach Diggs is a tough, hard-nosed coach with over 40 years of experience and multiple AAU championships, who demands excellence and mastery of fundamentals. Under his guidance, my 6th grade sons have developed skills, basketball IQ, and confidence that many high school players don’t yet possess. They are mentally tougher, physically stronger, and far more disciplined on the court.
What truly sets Coach Diggs apart is his heart. Behind the intensity is a coach who genuinely loves his players and their future, not a parent coach chasing glory, but a mentor committed to development. I often joke that he hugs my boys more than I do, and that care is felt throughout the academy. His track record speaks for itself—players advancing to Division I, II, III, overseas, and even the NBA. The knowledge, structure, and accountability he provides are invaluable, and for those who fully buy in, the success that follows is real.
Scott Shelton
I admire and respect what Willie Diggs and team have accomplished. I entrusted my son, Samuel, to his leadership and oversight, and the results as a basketball player were highly observable, and now several years later, his progression into manhood, utilizing the mental and discipline skills that Willie taught, are manifesting in a big way.
Javone Diggs
From the age of 8 to 17, WDBA has been a constant and meaningful part of Dominic’s life, and as a parent, I can honestly say the impact has been life-changing. This academy didn’t just develop my son as a basketball player — it helped raise him into the young man he is today.
Coach Willie has been more than a coach; he has been a mentor, a role model, and someone who truly cares about the kids he leads. He saw Dominic’s potential, believed in him through every high and low, and pushed him with both firmness and heart. Knowing my son was guided by someone who genuinely cares about his growth, character, and future gave me peace as a parent.
WDBA became a second home for Dominic — a place where he learned discipline, resilience, accountability, and confidence. I will always be grateful to Coach Willie and WDBA for the love, guidance, and lessons they poured into my son. Those lessons will stay with him far beyond the court.

WILLIE IS FANTASTIC AT WHAT HE DOES
Willie Diggs Basketball Academy has already made a meaningful impact on my 11-year-old son in a very short period of time. From the first few sessions, the academy’s tough-love approach has challenged him to work harder, stay focused, and take responsibility for his effort on and off the court. While the expectations are high, the coaching is clearly rooted in building character and self-confidence, and we are already seeing him carry himself with greater assurance and resilience. It has been a strong, positive start, and we are very pleased with the foundation Willie Diggs Basketball Academy is helping to build.
Britton Anderson
I played basketball at Wake Forest, and Willie Diggs was instrumental in helping me transition my game in high school from JV to varsity and ultimately to the collegiate level. His training is grounded in a strong emphasis on fundamentals, particularly footwork, which everything else builds from. His shooting and ball-handling drills are challenging, creative, and game-like, but they always begin with proper positioning, balance, and movement. No matter the level you start at, Willie meets you where you are, reinforces the fundamentals, and builds your game step by step. Willie has a unique way in building confidence in his players. He helps players understand why they are improving and trust the foundation of their game as the competition level rises.
Billy Wiles, Appalachian State University
WDBA changed my life. Willie taught me how to work hard, how to handle adversity, and most importantly how to be a great teammate and person.
Nicholas Anderson, Wake Forest University
I trained and played for Uncle Willie at his basketball academy. He was more than just a coach – he was family.
Uncle Willie taught me much more than basketball; he taught me toughness and confidence. Not only did he help shape me as a player, but he also helped shape the person I am today.
Stephanie Bailey
Coach Willie Diggs is simply the best! He brings so much energy, positivity, and heart to coaching that the girls can’t help but love the game. He has a gift for breaking down basketball skills – shooting, dribbling, defense while keeping practices fun and full of laughter. The girls work hard, but they’re smiling the whole time.
My 12-year-old has grown tremendously with Coach Willie. Her confidence, teamwork, and game sense have taken off, and she now counts the days until practice. You can see how dedicated he is whether he’s on the court or talking about coaching while sneaking in a round of golf (his other passion!). His love for helping kids improve is unmatched.
If you’re looking for a coach who truly cares, knows the game, and makes every player feel excited to compete and grow, Coach Willie Diggs is the one to have on your team.
Gabriel Chami
Coach Willie Diggs (“Willie”) is the kind of mentor every young athlete needs—not just to learn basketball, but to grow as a person. He teaches the game the old school way, with a laser focus on fundamentals, discipline, and respect for the sport. His practices are tough, his standards are high, and his expectations are clear. But behind that intensity is a deep commitment to shaping character.
What sets Coach Willie apart is his heart. He genuinely cares about every kid who steps onto his court. His love for them is real—and it’s tough love. He pushes them because he believes in them. He holds them accountable because he wants them to succeed, not just in basketball, but in life. He sees their potential even when they don’t, and he never lets them settle for less than their best.
Coach Willie doesn’t just build better basketball players—he builds better kids. He instills values like accountability, mental toughness, and perseverance that extend far beyond the court. Whether it’s learning how to box out or how to bounce back from a mistake, every lesson he teaches is rooted in personal growth.
If you’re looking for someone who will challenge your child, push them to be their best, and teach them lessons that last a lifetime, Coach Willie is that coach.
Andrea Jones
Willie Diggs has been working with my son since he was in 6th grade. Willie is an excellent trainer and coach because he teaches the players to play as a team and not as an individual. However, he trains each player to increase his/her own individual skills such as ball handling, shooting, and footwork that will help them grow as a team.
Dominic Jones has played in several big tournaments in Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Boston, Pittsburgh, DC, MD, and VA with WDBA and other Elite AAU teams and has demonstrated higher skills and basketball IQ through Coach Diggs’s training. I would recommend Coach Diggs to any player who is looking to increase his/her basketball IQ and skills. My son really loves his training even though it is hard work!
Aryan Bhupalam
3 years ago, I didn’t know how to dribble or shoot the ball. I kept on practicing and got a little better. When I went to the Willie Diggs Basketball Academy, Coach Diggs showed me how to dribble in many different ways and how to shoot right. Within one year, I became an amazing basketball player and started competing against skilled players. The next year I tried out for the school basketball team and made it! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to play due to a broken leg. Soon after I took a break from basketball. But 9 months later, here I am back at the academy getting better each day and learning new skills and plays.
Anybody who wants to play pro basketball, come to this academy. Coach Diggs will show you not only how to play pro basketball but he will also show you how to be disciplined at the same time.

To those of you in and around the Northern Virginia area and looking for a program where your kids will be loved and challenged and develop as players and as people – it gets no better than Willie Diggs Basketball Academy. It’s not for the faint of heart but for those who wants to see the best brought out of their kids. Never about wins or losses but about preparing them for tomorrow’s life challenges.
I highly recommend it wholeheartedly and I guarantee your child and you will win in the end because of your association with the program. I’m speaking off of 25 years of coaching at the Division 1&2 college and high school level. I wish my boys could stay through graduation.

Becoming part of the WDBA program has been one of the best decisions our son has made. In 6th grade he decided that he was ready to focus more on basketball and started training with Willie Diggs 2 days a week and playing for a WDBA team. What Willie was able to do for him in just 2 hours a week was incredible and more than any coach could do in twice the time. His basic skills and fundamentals as well as his Basketball IQ improved very quickly.
We saw big results in a short amount of time. We also noticed that his confidence was growing. Nothing could intimidate him anymore. He grew stronger physically and mentally. The individual attention that you get from this program is like no other in the area. Willie has a personal interest in every athlete that trains with him. He sees the potential in each player and has a unique way of bringing it out. Our son has been with Willie for 3 years now. WDBA has become a family for him. He has enjoyed every minute and has never looked back!

Man what can I say. I went from a high schooler barely knowing about basketball to a 1000-point college point guard still holding Conference records! I can LARGELY thank the Academy and Uncle Willie for his overall talents. You turned individual basketball players into sisters ranging in crazy ages…You made a family without even knowing it.
Brittany Crowell
This academy truly made me the person I am today. I learned what hard work and dedication to a craft really is. Now that I am in the working world now and my basketball career is over, I still use the tools that Uncle Willie instilled in us everyday.
I am glad that he helped me understand that what I learn on the court will not only help me now but will help me in the future when I pursued other career opportunities. Thank you for making my life change for the better.

Willie is the most caring person I’ve met, both on and off the court. When our son, Britton, had a potential career ending injury with a torn ACL weeks before his high school senior year, Willie provided our son with encouragement and our family with emotional support needed.
He helped give our son the courage to persevere and the results were phenomenal. Britton finished all conference, team MVP, and he is now a member of the Wake Forest University basketball Team.

The Willie Diggs Basketball Academy motto is “taking your game to the next level,” and that is exactly what Willie and his team have done for my son and daughter, now 18 and 13. How do they do it? Willie proves to his players that hard work and mastery of specific techniques works – pure and simple.
Chelese Mcclain
Willie Diggs has a vision for each player that joins the academy. From the least skilled and least athletic he meets his players where they are. He works to bring the best out of everyone in the academy.
Coach Diggs is tough on his players but he is fair and the players always know that his coaching style comes from a deep passion and understanding of what it takes to play the real game of basketball and an even deeper passion for developing his players.

WDBA changed my life. Willie taught me how to work hard, how to handle adversity, and most importantly how to be a great teammate and person.

I trained and played for Uncle Willie at his basketball academy. He was more than just a coach – he was family.
Uncle Willie taught me much more than basketball; he taught me toughness and confidence. Not only did he help shape me as a player, but he also helped shape the person I am today.
